Patrice Lumumba

(Photos Courtesy of Google) It is quite unfortunate that people who have ideas are always the first to be killed. And more often than not they are killed by their own people. They are seen as threats because they have visions and want to see others prosper and not themselves. Those who are greedy and want more power put blame on them, insult them , humiliate them and more often than not exterminate them so that they can continue feeding at the expense of others. In Patrice Lumumba's Last letter he saw a vision for Congo, he prayed that one day it will be beautiful and that everyone will live in peace and harmony. He wanted what was best for the Congolese and this made him a threat. He wanted change and had a vision of uniting the Congolese under one government but he was referred to as 'Satan'. It is a really sad and angering story to know that Africans were and are still treated as idiots who need the West to survive. The moment we break the ties, the le...

Naimuggery 2

(All photos, courtesy of Google) I have been asking myself the question, do muggers and robbers today ever think about their victims before they approach and threaten them? Jacob was walking, as he usually does, at around 7 pm at night in the cold streets of Nairobi. He had just come from a lecture and on that day he had brought his laptop to do a presentation in class. His mother had already warned him to be wary because unfortunately muggers in Nairobi were targeting university students walking with bags around town. This was because those students more often than not carry laptops in those bags. He heeded his mother's words and became very alert as he crossed the streets and increased his pace whenever he felt he was being followed. The stage was only five minutes away and today he was going to make it At least that is what he thought. As he crossed a busy lane with countable number of people, three gentlemen in biker jackets approached him from behind. He...

Men, we need to wake up

(all photos courtesy of Google). The world is evolving. Time is changing. Women are gaining power. Men are seated, watching, waiting for their turn. In the 90s and early 2000s all campaigns were directed at ‘empowering the women’ Do not get me wrong, women were mistreated and suffered under the tyranny of men and their egos. UNICEF created the International Day of the Girl to help end the circle of violence against adolescent girls. It is celebrated on the 11 th of October annually. Education was the major concern and center of debates, and the United Nations felt that it had serious impacts on human and economic aspects of society. Girls worldwide were forced to cook, clean and do other house hold chores while their male siblings went to school and received care and attention from parents. Girls were seen as a curse while boys were seen as a blessing. Men felt proud having a boy while mistreating the poor mother for having a girl. Something needed to ...

Respect for the men

(Photos Courtesy of Google)  The secret to a man's heart is not food or sex...it's respect. I know many women wonder why men are always willing to fight even to the death because they have been disrespected, it's simply because RESPECT is all we want.  The reason why men have respect for each other and solve conflicts faster and never hold grudges. We respect each other. We do not pry where we are not supposed to and we have secret codes which we all understand. For example in a urinal there are bowls placed next to each other. Instead of going next to where a gentleman is handling his business another man would go to the furthest or to the main toilet, because it is respect. Most women who have discovered this have always found life very easy. If you have noticed your mother championing for human rights but bowing to her husband as she gives him his food, it is not slavery, that woman knows what her husband wants. Of course the Bible expects a w...

Love for the women

(Photos courtesy of Google). The best way to keep a woman happy, is giving her the feeling that she is being loved. As men we have a habit that as long as we provide and come home early to our girlfriends or wives we always think it is the best show of love. We are always somewhat disgusted when a woman says she does not feel loved and has to be told 24 hours a day to feel it. Well in truth the female species need a sense of direction and protection. They need that feel of love. I may not be the love expert but I have noticed that if you give a lady that sense of love she will always be attracted to you. Telling her she is beautiful, remembering her birthday, sending her messages of love, giving her your time, respecting her and listening to her input are the sure fire ways to keep a woman faithful and loyal to a man. It is unfortunate that today men have fallen short of becoming intimate with their partners. We complain when women become difficult and hard...

Change starts with me, Change starts with you, Change starts with us

(Photos courtesy of Google) I believe we have lost our senses as human beings. We have stooped so low and rejected what has made us live in relative peace. So many things are happening today and they create questions in my mind “where did we go wrong?” I had a dream about my old high school days, when I was thinner and looked healthier than I am today. When I felt the need to work hard, because it was the only thing I had left. When I felt like running was a punishment that should have been abolished. When you could walk into the town of Nairobi and feel a sense of calm and tranquility. Then comes the reality today. I left myself loose and became obese, now I have a lump in my stomach and for some strange reason I keep on increasing in size. I don’t feel safe in walking into town, at any time. There are thieves, the police and the terrorists who want to cause fear, pain and havoc. I am now walking with an old phone and the exact amount of fare because I have no idea when I w...
