The Hidden Motive (Conclusion)

(Photo Source: Pinterest Website) The aftermath of battle was clear for everyone to see. They came unannounced and wreaked terror. They did not discriminate; man, woman, child, or goat, all were killed. There was no warning. They still had 24 hours, but what made Uncle Mwaluga’s men strike is still a mystery. They came in the shadow of the darkness and started the slaughter. Most people were preparing meals outside their huts. A neighbor saw what happened to another and screamed. The warriors of the village tried to assemble, but it was like the enemy knew where to strike. There were no weapons (they mysteriously vanished), the commanders were missing and it was too dark to judge where the attack was coming from. To the defenders, the attack came from everywhere. As the massacre continued, the attackers failed to notice their own running to stop them. They just heard a scream, a spear was sent her way and she was silent. As her friend rushed to try and save her, a knife

The hidden Motive 3

(Photo Source: 123rf Website) Anita was at Mwanaidi’s home. Mwanaidi was her childhood friend and they shared their secrets and life stories together. “Mwanaidi I think mom hates my fiancé.” “Why would you say that?” “She told me to cancel things off with him.” “She is still hurt from the great war. She lost someone really dear to her.” “I know that. She was not the only one, but why can’t she move on?” “I am not sure about that. Maybe if she gets to know him, she might change?” “Maybe. I will try to make her change. I love him so much.” “Yes, I know you do. You have been talking about him ever since you met him by the river.” “Of course. I thought I was dreaming when I saw his beautifully shaped body and his appetizing smile. I drooled and got lost in his handsomeness to a point I did not realize he was right beside me. When he talked I almost fainted, but he caught me in his huge soft arms. When he spoke, I felt my heart beating. When he ask

The Hidden Motive 2

(Photo Source: Washington Post) The Great War had occurred between the two communities during a scuffle. A man from Anita’s tribe was killed near the other communities’ village. There was no explanation and Anita’s people decided to retaliate. This meant that the other village also retaliated. This vicious cycle happened until the two communities decided to fight it out. There was so much death and destruction and Anita’s father was a victim of war. After the war, the truth came out. The man who had been killed first was done in by thugs on the road who dumped his body along the way. The King came and led negotiations between the two communities. But Anita’s mother will never forget. Mama Anita had called some of her relatives to discuss the events that had occurred. In order to kill any suspicion she had Anita go sleep at her friend’s house, claiming she wanted to plan the wedding. “What should we do Mama Anita?” asked Uncle Musambwa “That is what I called on you at

The Hidden Motive

(Photo Source: Quotes Gram Website) It has been a long day. A lot of people have been in the compound and the house help is cleaning the compound. Mama Anita is seated outside waiting. Anita walks to her. She is still happy. “Yes mom, you called me?” “I did. Have a seat.” “OK. What is the problem?” “I want you to end your relationship with that boy.” “WHAT?!” “I know you are not deaf. You have heard me.” “Are you being serious mom?” “Yes I am being serious.” “You want me to leave the man I love?” “Yes I will not repeat myself again.” “OK, why?” “He is not from our people.” There is an eerie silence. Anita is still looking at her mother. She is trying to compose herself as she can. “So?” “What do you mean ‘so’?” “He is not from our people so?” “It would seem he has even taught you to talk back your mother, eh?” “No. I am still trying to understand your logic. I have been dating this man for 2 years. You have

How to Start a Revolution

(Photo Source: Huffington Post) How does one start a revolution to change the hearts and minds of people? 1: Think It is important that a person starts to think. Think about what needs to be changed. Think about why it needs to be changed. Think of how to change the world or the place he or she is surrounded by. Think about when it needs to be changed. The first process is to think. However, today we have damaged ourselves to a point we cannot think anymore. Is it not strange that we are accepting everything that is being fed to us? Sex sells, why should it sell? Sex is for the bedroom, not to share with everybody. Money is the reason for happiness, why can’t having a happy family or sharing time with friends bring happiness? Why do we have to work 8-5 to make money? Why not work for a whole week non-stop to make money, or three times a week? Do we all need to work white collar jobs? What is wrong with ‘kazi ya mjengo’ (masonry) ? Why should politics be divided on tr

Our Union is important

(Photo Source: thumbs.dreamstime.com) Julius is seated on the couch thinking and doing calculations on a notebook. His wife Emma comes in and watches him as he ponders. “Why are you thinking so much?” She asks. “Hmm…what?” “Why are you thinking so much?” “Oh, I am just analyzing, planning and organizing for our family. You know I want to make you and my future kids happy by giving you everything you want.” “And what do you think equals to ‘everything we want?” “You know, money, cars, jewelry…” “Who told you those are everything we want?” “Well…I…look I am planning for our future here.” “Why not focus on now?” “Because there is still tomorrow.” “Tomorrow never comes.” “Thank you for the  cliche . OK so why are you asking all these questions? Did something happen?” “I am asking questions because I want to. I have noticed in the past month all you have been doing is thinking.” “Yeah. Today’s world is tough, I have to ensure yo

Unappreciated Hero 3

(Photo Source:  media.licdn.com) "You have to go." "No, I don't want to." "You are sick, you have to go to hospital." "No, Mom. If I sleep for a bit, I will be better." "Stop being stubborn and let's go to hospital." "No, I don't want to. Why won't you listen?" "Why don't you want to go to hospital?" "I am just tired. The pain will go away." "OK, you can sleep for a bit, but if it does not improve we are going to the hospital." "OK, OK, whatever." Kevin sleeps for hours, but he wakes up in much more pain. As he wakes up he notices something is off. He is not in his room. He has tubes in his arm. He can hear the beeping of the heart monitor. He is in hospital and his mom is sleeping beside him. He feels his head; he has a bandage on." "Well, well, good evening; how are you feeling my son?" Hs mom stands up and tries to feel

(Photo Source: https://media.licdn.com/mpr/mpr/p/7/005/05d/1a2/3942631.jpg) Kevin remembers that one day he came home. He was feeling sick and was scared of what might happen next. He had borrowed his father's car to go visit a friend and while coming back it got a dent. The problem was he knew how much his father loved the car and was afraid of the consequences that may arise. "Maybe he will think I did it on purpose; he will never give me the car again; he will never forgive me; he will make me pay for repairs; it is going to be awkward sitting close to him; he is going to remind me constantly of what has happened..." "Kevin, what is wrong?" "Oh..uh...hi, mom." "Why are you talking to yourself?" "Nothing mom, nothing is wrong." He continues pacing up and down reciting what he will tell his father. "My son something is troubling you. Spit it out." "Well...I...I dented dad's
