True Justice

It was a sunny Thursday afternoon as I walked down the streets of Nairobi. I was super happy, I just got paid and I was heading to the bank. It was my first job and this was my first paycheck. Now I could save money and move out of my parents house. My father was asking for rent for living in his house. My lady was also on my case. She started working a year ago, now she feels rich and wants a man who can maintain her status. Mr. Joakim was going to be happy to know his investment would not go to waste. He told me to work somewhere else and depending on my progress he would offer me a chance to play with the 'big boys of accounting in Nairobi' My life looked like it was taking an upturn for the best. Nothing could go wrong. "Kijana wapi pesa?" "Kijana nakuongelesha." I was still dazed. I tried recollecting myself. "Sijaibia mtu. Hizo ni pesa zangu." "Angalia receipt niko nayo kwa mfuko." The clever bastards had even tak

Love Ship

Its cold, I am trying to breathe, but every gulp of air I breathe is followed by a sudden gush of water. How did I get here? What exactly happened? Is this a dream? The sun was shining. The smell of the salty ocean. The sound of the waves beating on the coral reefs. I was looking forward to our trip. I had planned it for months as a way of trying to build a connection with her. She did not talk, she just stared blankly as I parked the car. "Listen, am sorry. I was hoping this trip would allow us to patch up and think about us." She did not even flinch. I swallowed a huge load of saliva as I opened my door and went to the boot to remove our bags. She continued her daze, I almost felt like she had become a zombie. I wanted us to have fun, but I predicted a gloomy vacation. I wished we could turn back and forget everything. My mom was the one who advised me to organize the trip. Nothing can beat a mother's instinct. She got out of the car, dragging her feet and op

She stood there. She scratched her scruffy hair. She was hungry and sweaty. She rummaged through the trash bin hoping to find something to cheat her stomach with. If she still had it she could be scuffing down a hot meal or a milkshake at Java. Life in the cold Nairobi streets was tough. People never had time for her antics and the County Council askaris were always on her. The beasts had the courage to ask her for sex so that she could not go to jail. She had many challenges, but her main goal was to find the old woman. She was the one responsible for her misfortune. Why did she have to do this? She had done nothing wrong. So why was she paying for something she had not done. The sun blazed. Her hunger was intense. She tried going to a restaurant to beg for even bones, but she was chased and blamed for driving away the customers. She found a cold pavement and sat. She tucked her knees near her chest. She tried to cry but she did not have the strength to shed a tear. "G

Dr. Love

Its funny how those not in relationships know so much. They have the best advice and solution for any arising issue in another person's relationship. If they are asked why they are not in a relationship, they have the best excuse. "I am not ready for a relationship." "I have not found my perfect, match." "I am still waiting and searching for my perfect match." "I have not yet found someone worthy to love." "I am not ready for the pain and stresses of a relationship." "I want to finish my studies." "I am concentrating in my career." "I just came from a relationship and it did not work well." People let us stop lying to ourselves. We can love , the most important thing is to love yourself first. The moment you find your inner love, another person will be able to love you. Like I said earlier, people not in relationships give the best advice. I have never been in a relationship, but

The Unfinished Story

He stood on the rocks waiting. The water flowed smoothly and he could make out shadows of fish looking for a meal or swimming against the current. Thoughts raced his mind like a bugatti at 407 miles per hour. He was scared that their plan might have backfired. "Was he caught? What about the money? Did he sell me out?" Tension built between him running to save his skin or waiting for him to arrive. Suddenly he heard the bush behind him move. He was startled and he cocked his gun ready to fire. He tried to breathe slowly because he knew if he was uneasy it would be hard to aim. A beautiful lady emerged with a pot singing to herself. He hid his gun and said halo "Haloo" "Halo, what are you doing by the stream alone?" "Just thinking. Being a man requires one to meditate on how to move on in life. I am sorry if I scared you" "Not at all. I have never seen you before? Are you from around here?" "No. I have just com
