Friend zoned

To say I was expecting it to happen, would be a true statement. I knew you liked me. I knew you wanted to be with me. I knew that you had a thing for me. I knew you wanted to be with me. You already were with me, but you wanted more. You wanted to listen to my intimate stories while we cuddled. You wanted us to send each other silly and romantic messages. You wanted us to share each other, but most of all be in love with each other. You wanted us to stop calling each other best friends and become a couple. I pretended not to see it. I pretended I did not notice your feelings. The way you hugged me. The way you touched me. The way you looked at me. The way you were always eager to listen to my stories. You liked me. You adored me. In your eyes I could see that you were planning our future. All I had to do was accept your proposal and ask you out. I did not want us to be together more than friends. I wanted things to remain as they were. I thought things would be weird and awkw...

The Collection

It was one of those days. Working late, because I was forced to. I was leaving the organization and my boss felt it important that I should know who is boss. She never liked me, worse still, I was really good at my work. The gap I was leaving could never be filled. She knew it. I knew it. The project I was working on could have earned her a big promotion, until I made the announcement. She was never going to forgive me for that. I couldn’t care less. I had big dreams and I knew I could not move up in that organization. I left the office, tired and burnt out. I wondered how I was going to wake up early the next day to come back. I was almost considering not coming back, then I remembered I needed a clearance letter from them for my next job. I had to. That night’s supper was bread and water. At least the peanut butter and jam added some ‘spice’. I was almost considering adding some beef cubes or tomato sauce. The life of a bachelor. If my mom found out, she would have move me ba...

Thank You

You know it is always very easy to take things for granted because we never know what we have until it’s gone. That must be one of the most cliché lines you will ever read. However, it is very important in this context. The main reason being, I want to say thank you. My life has not be relatively easy. I have gone through a lot of problems and I have the worst reactions to different situations. However, no matter how tough the challenge, in some way I have always come out of it, learned and moved forward. It is hard to explain, but I know it is because of people praying and wishing me well. People have told me that I am going to be great one day, and because of their support and love, I keep building myself with time. If you have followed my story, you will find that I have grown, thanks to the people I have met and interacted with. An example is high school. I used to fail my exams. My first term I was in the bottom 10. It was rough for me and it seemed like I was going ...

Princess! The Tower has Fallen!

It wasn't until she placed him in the palace that everything turned on her He constantly told her what she didn't want to hear, So she blamed him. She tried to convince her other servants and the council that he was at fault. But they supported him. He was always going to rallies and talking ill her. Or so she assumed. The tower fell, but the princess didn't care. It was all his fault and he was taking responsibility for it. She shunned, accused and insulted him. But he was unmoved. She told the people he organized the people to revolt. But they were unmoved. She was losing face. She was desperate to save herself. She cried and clutched at thin straws. Sweet and soured

He checked the catridge of the gun. One more bullet left. He raised it up. Pointed. Fired.  Willy came home. He unlocked the front door with his key and pushed the door open. He passed through the kitchen and went straight to the fridge. He opened and closed different containers, looking for something to eat before he went to bed. He found some rice, found a spoon in the cabinet and sat down to eat his breakfast. His mother came down stairs. She stopped at the door and looked at him from head to toe. She stood, frozen in time, as Willy chewed the cold, dry rice. She looked like she wanted to say something, but looked like she had forgotten what it was mid-sentence. This was her son. The one who God had blessed her with. She had to do something. If she didn't, he would come back in a body bag. Willy looked oblivious and in his own little world. He jerked from his day dream and started emptying out his pockets. His mother just watched. She wanted to protest. They had h...

Princess! The tower is falling down!

Princess! Princess! The tower is falling down! The tower built of mortar and brick. The tower built of blood and sweat. Princess! Princess! The tower is falling down! Princess! Princess! The tower is falling down! But why should the tower be falling down? Is it because it is the architect's fault? Is it because it is the engineer's fault? Is it because it is the inspection man's fault? Is it because it is the supervisor's fault? Is it because it is the mason's fault? Is it because it is the carpenter's fault? Why oh why Princess? Why is the tower falling down? Princess! Oh Princess! Look at those people. It is those people's fault that the tower is falling down. Princess, they are fed up with your tyranny. Princess, they are fed up with being discriminated and abuse. Princess, they are fed up with you. Princess, you never listened to them. Princess, you thought they were happy. Oh Princess! The tower has fallen down! Run away Prin...

Remember Me

A mirror stands at the back of the room supported by the wall. The room is dimly lit with a projector in the middle and a white canvas on the opposite wall of the mirror. A door opens creakily. A man in a dark hood and a dark cloak walks into the room and attaches a laptop to the projector. As he switches the laptop on a portrait reflection of another man comes in into view in the mirror.   “I was able to edit the video because there are parts that I felt were a bit irrelevant. I felt there are parts you needed to see.” “All right. Thank you. Please start the video.” The man in the dark hood presses the spacebar button on the laptop’s keyboard and a video starts. It has no title, but it starts with a woman standing on the podium. She is crying as she is giving her speech. “My son. I loved you so much…Why did you leave me? What am I supposed to do without you?” She straightens herself out, wipes her tears with her handkerchief and looks into the crowd. “I g...
